Mr Positive 🌞. 5 years, never once in a bad mood. Rain, traffic, broken roads, delayed flights… nothing, NOTHING, gets in his way.

Queen Vibe ✨. Warm, grounded, respectable and the embodiment of a true Tanzanian woman.

Our glue🗓️. Careen is the adult in the room. Admin, accounting, strategy. **Emmanuel basically stole her from her old job.

Logistical genius 🔋. Medi Trip would just be a lovely idea with no bones without Emmanuel. Infrastructure, security, overland vehicles, safety, staffing, licensing… if it needs fixing, improving, or tightening up, Emmanuel is already on it and it’s done within minutes. If it’s running, he was already there.

HBIC. The Head Bridge Maker In Charge 🎯 . She drowns us in documents, protocols, orientation info, and strong opinions about dismantling saviourism, ethical exchange and will die on that hill.

Tamiha Orphanage Renovation & Construction | 2026

Home to 35 abandoned children, with no family support, no rehoming options, no welfare and no safety net beyond this refuge.

✅ WHY
Because children deserve to live, sleep, learn, and grow in spaces that are safe, functional, and humane not just “good enough.” Long-term wellbeing starts with the physical environment.

✅ HOW
Through strong hero in Mr Crispin and his wife who founded the home and take in these children, he has led local leadership, local labour, and created proper planning.
No rushed handovers. No temporary fixes.

✅ WHAT IS BEING DONE
• Structural renovations
• Improved sanitation and living spaces
• Safer sleeping and communal areas
• Materials and designs suited to long-term use, not short-term options

✅ IMPACT
This isn’t a moment it’s permanent.
Where…
Children can live in a space that supports health, stability, and routine.
Caregivers can work more effectively.
And the orphanage is stronger for years to come, not just getting by.

This is what we want ethical impact to look like:
✔ locally led
✔ professionally executed
✔ built to last

A year ago, Dashiloh joined us as a nursing student from London.

It was by no means easy for her. But she did it and with so much spirit. She’s now in her final year and still reminiscing about Tanzania almost every week.

“I’m in my final year now, and I believe I’ll be doing Medi Trip again just to totally reset and do more in Arusha and in Tanzania in general because I felt like time went by so fast!!! You were so right though, it was AMAZINGGGG!!! So, thank you so so much!”

When an experience stays with you long after you’ve left, you know it meant something.

The cultural bridging has a way of sharpening perspective, stretching confidence, and grounding future clinicians in real-world medicine.

We’re so proud of the nurses who pass through here.
Even prouder when they come back (and some are here now) so much stronger.
